Install SAP HANA Database and HANA Live Cache for S4HANA 1809

This blog cover the installation of SAP HANA Database 2.0 and HANA Live Cache.

Operating System Requirements:

SUSE Linux Version 12 patch 2
Refer below SAP Notes for more details
Note 2399995 – Hardware requirement for SAP HANA 2.0
Note 2235581 – SAP HANA: Supported Operating Systems.
Note 2205917 – SAP HANA DB: Recommended OS settings for SLES 12

SAP HANA Database Requirements:

Minimum version required SAP HANA 2.0 is Support Package 03 Database Revision 033.

Installing HANA Database

First step to unpack the archive IMDB_SERVER20_034_0-80002031.SAR file.

We need HANA database at least HANA 2 Rev 33 but it is recommended go with the higher version

To install the HANA database, you can use GUI (hdblcmgui) or command (hdblcm) based option, I am using GUI based hdblcmgui.

Execute below command to install the HANA database

./hdblcmgui –ignore=check_signature_file

Click Next

Select Radio Button “Install New System”



Select “Single Host System”

Input SID and Instance number and select System usage

Click Next

Provide password for <SID>adm



Provide password for sapadm

Verify the Summary and click next

Installation progress

HANA database Installation finished successfully.

Installing HANA Live Cache

Unpack the archive file











HANA Live Cache installation finished successfully
