What is SAP HANA DATABASE
SAP HANA is an in-memory and column-oriented database system developed by SAP company. Its primary function as a database server is to store and retrieve data requested by application server.
SAP HANA is an in-memory database platform for doing real-time analytics and for developing and deploying real-time applications.

In Appliance delivery model SAP HANA comes pre-installed on certified hardware provided by an SAP hardware partner
TDI (tailored data center integration model)
In TDI, SAP HANA database must be installed on certified hardware by a certified HANA administrator.
SAP HANA database made with below three technologies.
TREX: TREX stands for Text Retrieval Extraction. TREX technology added first in the SAP HANA database. This technology became more popular and is used in most of the search engines. TREX technology provides the analytics capability to the SAP HANA database. Thus, SAP HANA database is having a very powerful reading capability.
P*TIME: P*TIME is a light weight database which is specially designed to write the data into the memory. Writing the data in memory is one hundred times faster than writing the data in physical drive. P*TIME technology is added in the SAP HANA database and provides the writing capability for in the memory.
MAX DB: The MAX DB provides the backup functionality to your SAP HANA database.MAX DB provides the physical layer of SAP HANA database. When HANA database started, the data will be loaded from the disk to memory, all the changes are done directly in the memory. These changes are to be updated in disk by savepoint concept in SAP HANA database.
What is In Memory Database
In the In Memory database, all the data is stored in the Memory (RAM).Data is always is in-memory for all the time , which gives the CPUs quick access to data for processing.
HANA database stores data in both rows and columns store. HANA database is combination of both storage approaches that produces the speed, flexibility and performance of the HANA database.
